بدر گاہِ ذی شانِ خیر الانام

A poem in the praise of the Holy Prophet s.a.w by Hazrat Dr. Mir Muhammad Ismael (r.a)
Badar gahe zeeshan – In the court of the Possessor of all glory
——-
بدر گاہِ ذی شانِ خَیرُ الانام
In the court of the possessor of all glory, the best of all humans.
شفیعُ الوری مَرجَعِ خاص و عام
The intercessor, the focus of great and small.
بصد عِجز و مِنَّت بصد اِحترام
With deepest humility, with infinite reverence.
یہ کرتا ھے عرض آپ کا اک غلام
A servant of yours humbly proclaims;
کہ اے شاہِ کونین عالی مقام
O emperor of both worlds. O occupier of the highest station.
عَلیکَ الصّلوٰۃُ عَلیکَ السّلام
Upon you be peace. Upon you be blessings.
حسینانِ عالَم ہوئے شرمگیں
The most handsome in the world felt embarrassed
جو دیکھا وہ حسن اور وہ نورِ جبیں
upon observing his perfect beauty, his dazzling countenance.
پھر اِس پر وہ اَخلاقِ اکمل تریں
On top of that, an embodiment of such perfect morals
کہ دشمن بھی کہنے لگے آفریں
that even his enemies lauded him.
زہے خُلقِ کامل زہے حُسنِ تام
What perfect morals, what everlasting charm!
عَلیکَ الصّلوٰۃُ عَلیکَ السّلام
Upon you be peace. Upon you be blessings.
خَلائق کے دل تھے یقیں سے تَہی
The hearts of humanity were devoid of faith.
بتوں نے تھی حق کی جگہ گھیر لی
Idols had taken the place of the One True Lord.
ضلالت تھی دنیا پہ وہ چھا رہی
Such terrible darkness had descended upon the earth
کہ توحید ڈھونڈے سے ملتی نہ تھی
that the Unity of Allah was impossible to find.
ہوا آپؐ کے دم سے اس کا قیام
By your advent, it was re-established.
عَلیکَ الصّلوٰۃُ عَلیکَ السّلام
Upon you be peace. Upon you be blessings.
مَحّبت سے گھائل کیا آپ نے
With his love he entranced.
دلائل سے قائل کیا آپ نے
With his manifest signs he convinced.
جہالت کو زائل کیا آپ نے
Ignorance was eradicated by him.
شریعت کو کامل کیا آپ نے
Religion was perfected by him.
بیاں کر دیئے سب حلال و حرام
He explained in detail all that was lawful and all that was not.
عَلیکَ الصّلوٰۃُ عَلیکَ السّلام
Upon you be peace. Upon you be blessings.
نبوت کے تھے جس قدر بھی کمال
Every one of the possible qualities of prophethood
وہ سب جمع ہیں آپؐ میں لا مَحال
were combined in him, without exception, without limit.
صفاتِ جمال اور صفاتِ جلال
The attributes of beauty, the attributes of dignity;
ہر اک رنگ ہے بس عدیم المثال
every color of his personality – unique and matchless.
لیا ظُلم کا عَفُوْ سے انتقام
He avenged transgression with forgiveness.
عَلیکَ الصّلوٰۃُ عَلیکَ السّلام
Upon you be peace. Upon you be blessings.
مُقدّس حیات اور مُطہّر مذاق
His entire life was holy, his sense of humour pure and wholesome.
اطاعت میں یکتا عبادت میں طاق
Peerless was he in obedience, one of a kind in worship.
سوارِجہاں گیر یکراں بُرّاق
The universal voyager riding the swift steed
کہ بِگُذشْت از قصرِنیلی رواق
that bolted across the blue space of the heavens.
محمدؐ ہی نام اور محمدؐ ہی کام
Muhammadsaw the admired is his name, admired are his deeds.
عَلیکَ الصّلوٰۃُ عَلیکَ السّلام
Upon you be peace. Upon you be blessings.
علمدارِ عُشاقِ ذاتِ یگاں
The one who flies the standard of all the lovers of the One Lord.
سپہ دار افواجِ قُدّوسیاں
The commander of the army of the chaste ones.
معارف کا اِک قُلْزمِ بیکراں
The ocean of knowledge that is without an end.
اَفاضات میں زِندہء جاوداں
His eternal benefits will last forever.
پلا ساقیا آبِ کوثر کا جام
Let me drink from a goblet filled with your celestial wine.
عَلیکَ الصّلوٰۃُ عَلیکَ السّلام
