The Night of Destiny – Laylat’ul-Qadr
The Night of Destiny is better than a thousand months. (Al-Qadr, 97:4) It is the blessed night in which all affairs are wisely decided. (Ad-Dukhan, 44:5)
It falls in the last ten nights of Ramadan, and is more likely to fall in the odd-numbered ones. The believer should devote himself completely to God during every night of this month in the hope of coinciding with that night.
Chapter 44: Ad-Dukhan

By this perspicuous Book.
Truly, We revealed it in a blessed Night. Truly, We have ever been warning against evil.
In it all wise things are decided,
By Our own command. Verily, We have ever been sending Messengers,
As a mercy from thy Lord. Verily, He is the All-Hearing, the All-knowing,
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you would only have faith.
Chapter 97: Al-Qadr
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Surely, We sent it down on the Night of Destiny.
And what should make thee know what the Night of Destiny is?
The Night of Destiny is better than a thousand months.
Therein descend angels and the Spirit by the command of their Lord — with every matter.
It is all peace till the rising of the dawn.
The Prayer of Laylat’ul-Qadr:
‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:
I asked: “O Messenger of Allah! If I realize Laylat’ul-Qadr (Night of Destiny), what should I supplicate in it?” He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied, “You should supplicate:
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni
(O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).”
[At-Tirmidhi].

Allah changes not the condition of a people until they change that which is in their hearts.
